Global Education Fund


The Global Education Fund (GEF) is a scholarship awarded by UMF's Global Education Council for any international educational experiences. This includes studying (travel courses and semester programs), teaching, research, and internships abroad.

UMF Semester Abroad Scholarships

There are four study abroad scholarships administered through the University of Maine at Farmington. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage students to immerse themselves in a foreign culture for a semester or more while studying at UMF.

George Mitchell

Peace Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of

Senator Mitchell's role in brokering the Peace Accord in Northern Ireland. UMF students can apply to study at University College Cork in Ireland for a semester. The scholarship includes tuition, housing, airfare, and a stipend for meals and textbooks.

Other Study Abroad Scholarships

There are a number of other scholarships to financially assist students who would like to study abroad during their undergraduate career. The Office of Global Education provides support for students who wish to apply for these competitive national scholarships.
